I'm experiencing speed issues - Forecast 5 is slow

Issue:

I am finding Forecast 5 rather slow when making changes and moving between records.

Causes:
Some possible causes are:
1. Your PC and/or server is not meeting the recommended system requirements.
2. You are on a local database (this is the default option that comes with Forecast 5)
3. You have a large number of forecasts in your database.
4. Your forecasts use a large number of reference records, e.g. As % of Sales, As % of costs.
5. Your forecasts uses lots of hot links

Solutions:

1. Check that you are meeting/exceeding ALL the recommended System Requirements that are relevant to your license. Note there is a table for single users and another for servers, etc.
2. Upgrade to SQL Express. Forecast 5 uses SQL to store the database. SQL Express is a more powerful version that the localdb that is built-in to the Forecast 5 installer. See instructions on upgrading here.
3. Delete any unnecessary forecasts to clear space on the database.
4. Using reference records can impact the speed of your forecasts as they are doing a number of calculations. The above steps should help with improving the speed for these calculations.
5. Using a large number of Hotlinks can decrease the processing speed. Forecast 5 has a number of great functionality, including memos, calculate by units, etc. built in that you can use instead.
